Summary:
There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.

Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.

The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost.

Friends can betray.
Mothers can disappear.
Visions can mislead.
Certainties can unravel.

This is the third book in a series! I try not to spoil this book, but I do talk a bit about stuff from the other two books. You can read my reviews of:
THE RAVEN BOYS
THE DREAM THIEVES

This is probably one of the best series I have ever read. Each book has twists and turns you don't see coming all while advancing the plot set about in the first novel. The only thing I am not looking forward to is waiting for the next novel (STILL SO LONG UNTIL IT COMES OUT, but I do have it preordered).

I loved the Ronan and Adam storyline. I love that they are both constantly finding ways for Gansey to be able to continue on with his quest without having to do the unthinkable because Ronan and Adam are more than willing to do that for him. I am still not a huge fan of Adam, I find him kind of unlikeable but he was better in this novel -- probably because he had other things on his mind other than not being rich like his friends. I loved that Ronan and Adam both are figuring out more and more about their abilities and what they can do to help the group.

But I also thought that it was nice to see Blue take some risks and some control in this one. She is so smart and independent and wanted to do anything and everything to save her mom. It was nice to see that instead of acting like the mother figure to the boys, they were taking care of her in this one. And seeing Blue from Gansey's pov was just heartbreaking. I mean I am not sure what was worse: seeing him fall in love with her more and more or knowing that he is literally going to die soon. I cannot handle that. I thought it would be easy to handle that because we knew from sentence one basically that he was going to die, but it is just making it worse. Because I cannot handle it.

I do have to say that unlike the last book, the overarching plot doesn't feel like it moves along in this one as quickly -- or really at all. I was left feeling as though nothing really happened in the plot while there was a lot of character development and more questions to be answered rather than answers to questions that were previously created. I also thought some elements of the plot weren't the best in this one. I wasn't a fan of Neeve showing up out of the blue or Greenmantle and his wife as minor characters. I only was okay with their addition because of the scenes that it created between Ronan and Adam.

Overall: 4/5 stars because Ronan Lynch.

  1. RONAN LYNCH AND CHAINSAW ARE EVERYTHING.

Oh man. My love for this series is amazing. I'm okay with Gansey dying as long as whatever magic/voodoo/pixie dust brings him back at the end and there is majorly epic kissing. Like so much kissing it's almost annoying.

    Great review!

    1. YES I agree. I am not sure that is going to be the case because he has already been brought back to life so I am concerned Gansey is doneso for good. And I am not okay with that.

      Thanks for the comment Stacee!
